Celebrating Youth as Drivers of Innovation and Change
Every year on August 12th, the world marks International Youth Day, celebrating the creativity, resilience, and contributions of young people across the globe. This year’s theme, “Youth as the Drivers of Innovation and Change,” resonates deeply with us at Edgetechies, especially through the work we do in mentoring, coaching, and capacity building.
Empowering the Now, Not Just the Next
At Edgetechies, we don’t see young people as “leaders of tomorrow.” We see them as active problem-solvers today. Their ideas, energy, and boldness are already reshaping industries, influencing culture, and leading social change. Our role is to help sharpen that potential and expand their impact.
Mentorship and Capacity Building at the Core
Our capacity-building work is rooted in the belief that access to mentorship, practical training, and leadership exposure is what helps youth move from intention to innovation. We’ve made it our mission to bridge that gap—by opening doors, designing learning experiences, and providing tailored guidance to equip them for the real world.
Spotlight: Coaching Future Innovators with CampusLabs
One standout example of this commitment is our ongoing collaboration with CampusLabs—a platform nurturing student entrepreneurs and innovators. Our business development lead, Damola Anjorin, recently served as a mentor and coach during their three-week startup incubator program. Through one-on-one sessions, strategy clinics, and pitch feedback, he supported student-led teams as they developed solutions in areas ranging from edtech to sustainability.
What made this experience powerful was seeing firsthand how early-stage coaching helped refine bold ideas into feasible ventures. These weren’t just theoretical exercises—they were platforms for real-world problem solving. By engaging students in meaningful dialogue and giving them the tools to think critically, pivot quickly, and communicate confidently, we saw their growth accelerate within weeks.
Why This Work Matters
Investing in youth is one of the most strategic decisions we can make as a society. When we mentor, train, and challenge young people, we multiply their potential—not just for personal success, but for impact that ripples into families, communities, and entire sectors.
Join the Movement
This International Youth Day, we encourage you to reach out to a young person. Offer your guidance. Share a lesson. Create space for their voice. At Edgetechies, we’re committed to doing just that—building environments where youth thrive, innovate, and lead. Because when they win, we all do.
