At Edgetechies, we believe internships are more than just learning opportunities, they’re launchpads for growth, exploration, and building confidence in real-world problem solving. This month, we’re excited to spotlight Raahil Junaid, who recently completed a six-week internship with us, diving deep into both technical and professional development.
Building Skills Beyond Code
From day one, Raahil embraced the opportunity to strengthen not just his technical skills, but also key professional competencies. He honed his communication, mastered time management, and built greater resilience when faced with challenges in coding projects. These skills, he notes, were just as valuable as the programming knowledge he gained.
Week-by-Week Highlights
-
Week 1: Laid the foundation by exploring how the internet and websites work, backend development essentials (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), databases, microservices, and cloud computing. He also brushed up on HTML and CSS by creating simple web pages.
-
Week 2: Picked up JavaScript, leveraging his Python and Java background to accelerate learning through practice platforms like GeeksforGeeks.
-
Week 3: Combined JavaScript with HTML and CSS to create dynamic websites, including a tip calculator project that brought together core concepts.
-
Week 4: Ventured into Express.js, developing a user management system that handled CRUD operations with data stored in JSON, and testing with Postman.
-
Week 5: Explored MongoDB, learning the strengths of NoSQL databases compared to SQL. He then independently built a car management system, boosting his confidence with Express.js and backend design.
-
Week 6: Took a deep dive into APIs, studying RESTful principles and exploring local API testing tools. Beyond technical learning, Raahil also contributed to real projects, offering feedback on website access points and UI design — strengthening both his problem-solving and communication skills.
Reflecting on the Experience
Looking back, Raahil describes the internship as an invaluable opportunity to gain both hands-on technical expertise and professional confidence. From creating working projects to contributing to team discussions, he’s walked away with a stronger foundation in backend development and collaboration.
“Resilience was another skill I worked on during the internship, especially through the coding sections of my learning.” — Raahil Junaid
We’re proud of the dedication Raahil brought to his internship and excited to see how he continues to grow in his tech journey.
